Jonathan Rich
Executive Vice President - Head of Investment Banking

Mr. Rich is the Head of Investment Banking and an Executive Vice President at National Securities since 2009. Mr. Rich worked for First Colonial Securities Group, a 13 office, 150 employee regional firm based out of Boca Raton, first as a Senior Vice President and then as Managing Director in its Corporate Finance Department. First Colonial was acquired by vFinance in January of 2001 (vFinance completed its merger with National in July 2008). During 1999 and 2000, Mr. Rich's group was recognized by SNL Securities as a top 10 Specialty Finance Advisor in the nation based on the number of transactions completed. Mr. Rich graduated from Tulane University with an interdisciplinary major in Economics, Political Science, History and Philosophy. He continued his education by receiving a joint J.D./M.B.A. degree from Fordham University where his concentration was in Corporate Finance.

Michael Bezdek
Senior Vice President - Energy Investment Banking

Mr. Bezdek is a Senior Vice President of Investment Banking for National Securities, where he serves as Head of the Energy Group. Mr. Bezdek's past experience is specific to the energy space sector, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, senior debt facilities (secured/unsecured), mezzanine financing, O&G division order capitalization methods, off balance sheet financing methods ("assignments of production/non-recourse financing") and correspondent banking services to traditional energy bank facilities. Prior to joining National Securities, Mr. Bezdek spent a decade managing private individual and institutional investment portfolios including Coca Cola Southwest, Sandin International Japan and Eurocopter (joint venture of Daimler Benz and the French Government) with the Royal Bank of Canada / Dain Rauscher Private Client Group and Institutional Consulting Division. His experience is also extensive in institutional asset management. Mr. Bezdek is a member of The Independent Petroleum Association of America and The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers. Mr. Bezdek graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Finance from Southern California University. Further studies include The University of Texas Petroleum Extension and American Petroleum Institute certifications.

Vincent Calicchia
Senior Vice President - Advisory Group

Mr. Calicchia, a Chartered Financial Analyst, is a Senior Vice President of Investment Banking at National Securities. Prior to becoming a senior vice president of the advisory group, he was a principal for the firm's Structured Equity finance group. Before joining National Securities, he was a general partner of Arzei Capital Group, a hedge fund focused on investing in the securities of micro-cap, small-cap, and middle market emerging growth companies. From May 1999 to December 2000, Mr. Calicchia was the Vice President of Corporate Finance at Robb Peck McCooey Institutional Services, a division of Robb Peck McCooey Clearing Corporation, where he specialized in analyzing and financing emerging growth companies. From September 1997 to May 1999, Mr. Calicchia was employed in a similar capacity at Trautman Wasserman & Co. Prior to that period, Mr. Calicchia was a research analyst at a number of boutique investment banking firms where he acted as a Special Situations/Generalist analyst, covering a broad range of companies. Mr. Calicchia is a Fordham University graduate where he majored in Finance and continued his education receiving an MBA in Finance from Pace University specializing in Portfolio and Investment Management.

Brian Friedman
Senior Managing Director - Head of Healthcare Practice

Mr. Friedman is a Senior Managing Director of Investment Banking and head of Healthcare Practices at National Securities. Mr. Friedman joined National in 1997 as an Associate in the Investment Banking Department. Prior to National, he served as an Associate at Liberty Hampshire, where he helped structure, raise capital, and operated a special purpose finance company. He earned his B.A. from the University of Iowa and J.D. and M.B.A. from IIT.

David Graber
Managing Director - Investment Banking

Mr. Graber is a Managing Director of Investment Banking at National Securities. He originally joined the group in December 2008. Prior to joining National, he was the Chief Executive Officer for a leading U.S. manufacturer and retailer in the home improvement industry. Between 2005 and 2006, Mr. Graber was the Principal at Grove Street Capital Advisors. Mr. Graber's responsibilities at Grove Street included coordinating and structuring financing strategies for companies in Biotechnology, Media and shipping industries as well as sourcing institutional capital for private emerging growth companies. Mr. Graber spent 11 years with Credit Suisse / Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation in the equities division. Mr. Graber was a Director in the Investment Services Group, where he worked with growth managers, special situation / event driven long short funds and value managers. Mr. Graber holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business in New York and an MBA (Finance) from London Business School in the United Kingdom.

Ellen Herman
Senior Managing Director - Investment Banking

Ms. Herman is a Senior Managing Director of Investment Banking Department at National Securities. Prior to joining National, she was an investment banker at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. from 1994 through 2008, with the exception of 2002 and 2003 when she worked at BearingPoint providing strategic and financial advisory services to large cap international companies. At Bear Stearns, she was a senior banker on the China Banking Team sourcing and executing both equity and debt financings as well as strategic advisory transactions across industries. Prior to Bear Stearns, she worked for American Appraisal Associates both in New York and Central Europe where she was Director of Financial Valuations in Central and Eastern Europe advising state-owned companies being privatized in Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and received an M.B.A. in Finance from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University and a B.S. in Accounting from the School of Management at Binghamton University.

Richard Lazarow
Vice President - Investment Banking

Richard Lazarow is a Vice President of Investment Banking at National Securities, focusing on raising capital for public and private companies, and on opportunities to assist companies in enhancing shareholder value, such as M&A. Prior to joining National Holdings, Mr. Lazarow was a value-oriented, equity analyst and portfolio manager in NYC, working with various investment firms and hedge funds such as Baron Capital Management, Para Partners, Steel Partners, Lionheart Group, Americap Partners (as Founder and Managing Partner), and Aslan Advisors for some 15 years. Mr. Lazarow graduated from University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business with a B.S. in Economics, and from NYU's Stern School of Business with an MBA (with honors).

Trey Marinello
Associate - Investment Banking

Mr. Marinello is an Associate in the Investment Banking group at National Securities, originally joining the group in May of 2007. He arrived after spending one year at a middle market M&A boutique in Stamford, CT. While working as an Analyst in Stamford, Mr. Marinello was principally involved in sell-side Merger and Acquisition engagements for companies ranging in size from $5 to $50 million in revenue. Mr. Marinello was directly responsible for the necessary preparation and positioning required of closely held companies seeking to sell, merge or raise capital. Mr. Marinello received a B.A. in Economics from The University of Colorado at Boulder.

Mathew Portes
Director of Alternative Investments

Mr. Portes has been the Director of Alternative Investments since April 2008. He has extensive knowledge of Direct Participation Programs in Real Estate, Oil & Gas and other types of private investment funds. Prior to his five years with National, Mr. Portes was a Financial Analyst consultant to IBM. Mr. Portes received a B.A. from the University of Illinois and his M.B.A. from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Sagiv Shiv
Senior Managing Director - Head of Advisory Practice

Mr. Shiv is the Senior Managing Director of Investment Banking and head of Advisory Services at National Securities. Before joining National, he was head of Advisory Services at Merriman Curhan Ford & Co. Prior to Merriman, Mr. Shiv was head of Technology, Media and Telecom banking at Punk, Ziegel & Co. (now Ladenburg Thalemann), where he launched the firm's nanotechnology practice and made it into the leading investment bank in the field. Mr. Shiv has been an M&A and technology banker for 13 years.
Mr. Shiv is an associate editor of the Nanotechnology Business & Law Journal, a member of the American Finance Association and the Financial Management Association. Mr. Shiv earned his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Finance and Commercial Economics from Pacific Western University.

Carmelo Troccoli
Senior Vice President - Investment Banking

Mr. Troccoli is a Senior Vice President of Investment Banking at National Securities and has been with the team since October of 2004. Previously, Mr. Troccoli worked in the firm's research department as a sell-side and buy-side analyst working with investment bankers and our Director of Research on evaluating potential deals and investment opportunities. Prior to joining National, Carmelo held a position with Salomon Smith Barney's Individual Retirement and Financial Planning desk. As a specialist on the desk, he worked with financial advisors on accounting and legal implications of different retirement and estate planning products available to individuals. Mr. Troccoli graduated from the University of Miami with a B.B.A. in Finance. Mr. Troccoli is currently a CFA candidate.
